Deactivate Facebook Account Permanently
You can shut off an account and then later reactivate it. While it's shut off, people can't see your timeline or search for you, though some information, such as messages you sent out, may still show up.
If you erase your account, it's gone for life and also can not be reactivated. Facebook states that they "hold-up removal a couple of days after it's requested" which a deletion demand is terminated if you log back right into your account during that period. They further claim that it can occupy to 90 days to remove information kept in back-up systems.
