Deactivate Facebook Account Permanently
You can shut off an account and then later on reactivate it. While it's deactivated, people can't see your timeline or search for you, though some info, such as messages you sent out, might still show up.
If you delete your account, it's gone permanently as well as can not be reactivated. Facebook says that they "hold-up deletion a couple of days after it's asked for" which a removal request is terminated if you log back into your account during that period. They even more claim that it can occupy to 90 days to erase information stored in backup systems.
